Our purpose built hair loss clinic is filled with a wealth of knowledge and expertise on the latest hair transplantation innovations. We offer a discreet service, honest advice and a relaxing experience in our state of the art Nottingham clinic.

Your patient journey always begins with a free initial consultation, this is where your hair loss will be assessed by one of our clinicians, we will discuss your medical history and transplant expectations. We will then consider your bespoke solution tailored to your hair loss.

There are two leading hair transplant options, follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant and follicular unit transplantation (FUT) hair transplant. Both options are available at HHC Clinics, in some cases we offer a combination procedure of both FUE and FUT. Typically, the majority of our patients are recommended an FUE procedure for their hair loss. During your initial consultation, one of our skilled clinicians will discuss your options in detail with you so that together we can make an informed choice with results that will meet your expectations.

FUE Hair Transplant - Patient 6 - Final Result of Procedure

FUE and FUT hair transplants are both carried out under a local anaesthetic in our leading UK hair loss clinic, the main difference between the procedures is in the way that the grafts are obtained from your donor area, usually the back of the head where the hair is permanent.

During a follicular unit extraction (FUE) procedure hair grafts are individually extracted from the donor area. A follicular unit transplantation (FUT) is different in that a long linear strip is removed from the donor area by the surgeon and then individual follicles are dissected under a microscope. During both procedures the follicles are then implanted meticulously in to the recipient area.

The procedure times for an FUE and FUT also differ, depending on the number of grafts required, on average an FUT is expected to take around 4-6 hours whereas an FUE can take place in either one long session or over the course of several sessions. The process of an FUE is more intricate and time-consuming when compared with the alternative.

Because of the way in which the grafts are extracted, the recovery process for FUE & FUT procedures vary. Following an FUE the average recovery time is less than 7 days, with minimal post-surgical pain and discomfort. Following an FUT the recovery time is longer, with the scar healing in 7-10 days and the absorbable sutures falling off in the weeks to come, unless you opt for non-absorbable sutures which will need removing 7-12 day post surgery. We also advise waiting around 4-6 weeks before strenuous exercise following an FUT.

Both FUE hair transplants and FUT procedures offer permanent results, the initial transplant hair is expected to shed a few weeks after treatment, but hair will grow back strong and healthy in both cases. An FUT leaves a fine linear scar, often this procedure is preferred for women who can wear their hair down and cover the donor area following the procedure. An FUE leaves very small scars that are not noticeable after healing. Our hair transplant options both offer natural results, and here at HHC Clinics, our specialist team are on hand to answer all of your after-care questions no matter which procedure you decide.
