FUE Hair Transplant - Patient 3 - Immediately After Procedure

What is a hair transplant?

A hair transplant is a successful surgical hair restoration treatment for both men and women experiencing permanent hair loss. It involves taking a number of hair grafts from fruitful areas of the head, normally at the back of the head, and replanting them in the balding areas. These hair follicles will facilitate hair growth, as they would have before removal, and the treated area will start to see the coverage it once had. Hair transplants can be used to treat a number of hair loss issues across the scalp such as receding hairlines, thinning crowns and pattern baldness. They are generally seen as an effective hair loss solution as they have a high success rate, especially when compared to other hair loss treatments.

Our hair transplant procedures

There are two main types of hair loss procedures, FUE and FUT. While they are similar procedures, the way the grafts are taken from the donor is different. Both methods have pros and cons and the best option will largely depend on the individual. We also offer a combined procedure, which is a revolutionary treatment created by us, for maximum results. In order to get the best hair restoration results you should ensure you’re looking at the right treatments for your type of hair loss. We can help with that. We offer free consultations with our team of experts so we can make personal recommendations to suit you.

Comparison of FUE and FUT procedures

FUE procedure (Follicular Unit Extraction)

  • Commonest Procedure for 80% of Patients

  • Men rated up to 5 on the Norwood Scale

  • Multiple very small scars (not noticable after healing)

  • Difficult to repeat in later years

  • Better for those who suffer keloids or scar badly

  • Can have short hair at the back

  • Can exercise after a few days

  • Less risk of complications

FUT procedure ( Follicular Unit Transplantation/Strip)

  • Currently 20% of patients have this procedure

  • Preferred for women

  • Fine linear scar

  • Can repeat strip procedures after many years

  • Need to wear hair at back longer

  • Need to wait 4-6 weeks before strenuous exercise

  • Ludwig and Savin Scale for Women

  • Less damage to the grafts

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) refers to the extraction part of the procedure and there are key differences between the FUE and FUT methods. In the FUE hair transplant method, individual grafts are extracted directly from the patient’s donor area (back and sides of the head), one graft at a time. Patients can typically also style their hair shorter at the sides and back after the procedure. In an FUT hair transplant, a thin strip of hair is removed from the donor region leaving a small linear scar. The strip is then grafted into the recipient area.

We are very particular about working with you to create a natural hairline to give the best aesthetic result.

We take hair grafts from the sides and back of the head, as hair in these areas are not sensitive to the DHT hormone. After transplantation, they will grow forever. So, implanting hairs that are not sensitive to this hormone, into the recipient area of the scalp means that this hair is perfect to use to transplant.

Here at HHC Clinics, we offer free private consultation by an experienced clinician, with a background of general medicine and endocrinology, who will go through your medical history and your current medication and advise you appropriately. You will then be consulted by the surgeon.

Hair loss is more common than you think which is faced by both men and women. While there are various medications such as Finasteride & Minoxidil available on the market to overcome hair loss, a hair transplant is a more permanent solution that will embed missing hair follicles.

The hair transplant process involves removing hair follicles from the donor areas, which is then transplanted onto the recipient areas restoring your original hairline without any side effects.

A hair transplant may be a good option for people who have thin hair and experienced some form of hair loss. It may not be a permanent solution to thinning hair as it may require additional follow-up hair transplants to cover those thinner areas, but any hairs transplanted are guaranteed to produce growth in the recipient area.

At HHC Hair Loss Clinics, we will offer you the best possible hair loss treatment and help you decide which route would work best for you, depending on the severity of your hair loss and your personal concerns.
